A Darker Portland features historic black and white nighttime photographs of Oregonian news photographer Allan deLay in an exhibition curated by Thomas Robinson at William Joseph Gallery. "These images show Portland streets as they existed in the 1940's through the 1950's, when the now-dwarfed Public Service Building was the tallest in town, and Waterfront Park was a six-lane highway. The vintage views of the city are exceptionally beautiful, often with fog or rain-slicked streets beneath brilliant downtown lights, framed by the careful eye of one of the Northwest's greatest photographers."
